Andreas Kapoulas has been appointed as the new England senior men’s head coach ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Renowned for his work in the BBL as head coach of the Flyers, Kapoulas will continue his role with the BBL side, with assistant coach Nick Burns stepping up to cover the fixtures that conflict with the competition.

Having been appointed the Great Britain Under-20s head coach in March 2016, Kapoulas most recently led his side to promotion into Division A at the Under-20 European Championships with a bronze medal finish.

The 2015 Molten BBL Coach of the Year has a wealth of experience and knowledge on the international stage having also coached England Under-15s in 2010/11 and the U16s side in 2012/13.

"I am very honoured to be selected as the England men's head coach." said Kapoulas.

"It's a great time for our sport after a successful summer for the national team programme and we have an exciting opportunity to continue this momentum with the Commonwealth Games in Australia.

"We have plenty of work ahead of us to ensure we make the most of our preparations. I look forward to working with the players and staff towards a successful campaign."

Great Britain Under-18s head coach Alan Keane and Great Britain Under-16s head coach James Vear have also been announced as assistant coaches.

Womens Open Sessions
Oct 5, 2017, 12:05 am

Hi all,

Please see image and forward the info to your team members and anybody who might be interested.

This is a great opportunity for women's basketball and we would like to encourage all WEBBA members to attend and also if you know of any coaches who might be interested to run a session to get in touch.

The open summer sessions were a big success and from the feedback we received we feel this might be a good opportunity to get players from various teams together for a casual, friendly and free of charge 2 hours of basketball.

See you there.

Please find here an application form for an upcoming level 3 Table Officials Course. Please share this with any potential candidates. Please remember that all senior national league games require a minimum of 1 level 3 Table Official.

Below is an important extract from the form to emphasise this.

The course will be run in conjunction with the Best of the West tournament. Candidates will officiate the tournament games and be provided with feedback on all games. The actual course will take place between 5-9pm on the Saturday night, and the exam at 2.30pm on the Sunday. If you can only make part/s of the weekend please still apply.

Rule Changes 2017-2018
Aug 21, 2017, 8:33 pm

Dear all,

Please find here for your information a summary of the rules changes for next season, published by FIBA. Please forward this info to your players, so they are aware.

More details will be discussed at the pre-season referee meeting on the 6th September at Abbeywood School (referees are required to attend, but the meeting is open to everyone, so please feel free to attend).

We are also in the process of arranging a Level 1 referee course (approx. 2 hours theory and 2 hours on-court practice).

To have a better idea of how many people would be interested to attend this course, please could you reply to this me at Referees@webba-basketball.org.uk indicating if your club/team are

a) interested to attend and b) how many people wish to attend.

The aim is to run the course in September / October but we are open to suggestions if this will be a weeknight or weekend course (depending on participants).

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries,

Best wishes,

Alex Belkner
